Eta Aquariids

Comet debris show. The Eta Aquariids are meteors that separated from Halley's Comet hundreds of years ago and now streak across our sky every spring.

Peak in May. You can see these meteors from April 19 to May 28 each year, with the best viewing happening around May 5 when the show lasts about a week.

No sharp spike. Unlike most meteor showers that have one night of peak activity, the Eta Aquariids have a broad, gentle maximum that spreads its magic across several nights.

Ancient dust trail. Earth passes through a path of tiny rocky particles left behind by Halley's Comet, causing them to burn up and glow as meteors in our atmosphere.
