Ethiopian Wolf

Super specialized hunter. Unlike most wild dogs that eat lots of different foods, Ethiopian wolves hunt only small rodents called Afroalpine rats and mice in the high mountains where they live.

Mountain home. These wolves live high up in the Ethiopian Highlands and Simien Mountains, where it's cold and the grass is thin, making them perfectly adapted to that tough environment.

Red and white fur. You can spot an Ethiopian wolf by its reddish and white coat and its long, narrow skull, which makes it look different from other wild dogs.

World's rarest wild dog. Ethiopian wolves are one of the world's rarest canids and Africa's most endangered carnivore, which means very few are left in the wild and they really need our help.

Coyote-sized canine. These wolves are about the same size and build as coyotes, making them smaller and more delicate than big African wild dogs.
