Trees with figs. Fig trees are part of a huge plant family called Ficus that has over 800 different species living in warm and tropical places all around the world.

Super old food. People have been eating figs since ancient times, making them one of the oldest fruits that humans have grown on purpose for food.

From the Mediterranean. Figs originally came from the Mediterranean region and areas in western and southern Asia, but now people grow them in lots of countries with warm weather.

Special flowering plant. Figs belong to a plant family called Moraceae, and the fig tree is actually the most famous and important member of this whole family.
