Aerial flips and spins. Freestyle skiers launch themselves into the air to perform amazing flips, twists, and rotations. They're like acrobats on skis, spinning and rotating before landing smoothly.

Rails and boxes. Some freestyle skiers slide along metal rails and wooden boxes, grinding across them the same way skateboaders do tricks. It's called jibbing and makes the mountain feel like a playground.

Olympic events. Freestyle skiing is part of the Winter Olympics and includes different competitions like moguls, half-pipes, slopestyle, and big air. Each event tests different skills and creativity.

Started as hot-dogging. In the early 1970s, freestyle skiing was called hot-dogging because skiers loved showing off wild tricks and having fun. It was the rebellious, creative side of skiing that inspired the modern sport.

Known by many names. Around the world, freestyle skiing goes by different names including freeskiing and jibbing. Each name reflects the creative, anything-goes attitude of the sport.
