Cool Facts
Asking for help. Fundraising is when organizations or people ask individuals, businesses, and foundations to give money to support a cause they care about. It's how many schools, hospitals, animal shelters, and charities get the money they need to do their important work.
Many ways to raise funds. People fundraise in lots of creative ways, like bake sales, walkathons, charity concerts, or online crowdfunding where thousands of people can donate a little bit each. Each method brings people together around a shared goal.
Money for nonprofits. Most fundraising helps nonprofit organizations, which are groups that don't try to make a profit for owners but instead use all their money to help their community or cause. Libraries, youth centers, and disease research organizations all rely on fundraising.
Business fundraising too. Sometimes new companies also fundraise to get money to start or grow their business by asking investors for financial support. This helps entrepreneurs turn their ideas into real products or services.
Making a real difference. Without fundraising, many important projects couldn't happen because organizations wouldn't have enough money. It shows how communities can work together to support causes everyone believes in.
