Record-breaking comic. Garfield holds the Guinness World Record for being the most widely syndicated comic strip ever, appearing in about 2,580 newspapers around the world at its peak.

Created by Jim Davis. Jim Davis invented Garfield in 1976, starting as a local comic strip called Jon before it became a worldwide sensation in 1978.

Lives in Indiana. Garfield's home is Muncie, Indiana, which is the real hometown of creator Jim Davis.

Two best friends. Garfield shares his life with Odie, a silly and not-so-smart dog, and Jon Arbuckle, their human owner who tries to keep up with the cat's antics.
