Cool Facts
Italian invention. Gelato comes from Italy and is actually what Italian people call all ice cream, but the special kind we know has a unique recipe that makes it different from other frozen desserts.
Less fat, more flavor. Real gelato has only 6 to 9% butterfat, which is less than regular ice cream, but it has way more flavoring mixed in, so each bite tastes incredibly rich and intense.
Airy and smooth. Gelato contains about 35% air, which makes it super creamy and smooth on your tongue, and this air is part of what makes it feel so luxurious compared to denser ice creams.
Taste explosion. Because gelato has more actual flavor ingredients packed into it, the taste is much stronger and more complex than regular ice cream, so a small scoop can satisfy a big craving.
