Massive arm span. Giant Pacific octopuses can grow arms up to 30 feet long, letting them stretch across the ocean floor to hunt for food and squeeze through tight spaces to hide.

Problem solving genius. These octopuses are incredibly intelligent and can solve puzzles, open jars, and figure out how to escape from aquarium tanks, making them one of the smartest invertebrates in the ocean.

Lives in cold waters. You'll find giant Pacific octopuses in the cold waters around Japan, Alaska, and the west coast of North America, where they hide in rocky dens and crevices on the ocean floor.

Strong hunters. With powerful suction cups on their arms and a sharp beak, giant Pacific octopuses hunt crabs, shrimp, and fish by sneaking up on them and grabbing them with amazing speed.

Color changing masters. These incredible creatures can change their skin color and texture in less than a second to hide from predators or sneak up on prey, even though scientists believe octopuses might not see colors the way we do.
