Enormous feathered dino. Gigantoraptor was the largest oviraptorosaur ever discovered, much bigger than its relatives. It lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period, about 70 to 75 million years ago.
Covered in feathers. Like other oviraptorosaurs, Gigantoraptor had feathers all over its body, even though it was huge and couldn't fly. These feathers might have helped it look impressive or stay warm.
Enormous egg layer. Gigantoraptor laid the biggest dinosaur eggs ever found, some nearly two feet long. Scientists think it may have brooded its eggs like a giant bird.
Inner Mongolia hunter. The first Gigantoraptor bones were discovered in 2005 in the Iren Dabasu Formation of Inner Mongolia, giving us our first look at this incredible dinosaur. It was a predator that hunted smaller dinosaurs and animals in its desert home.
Smart hunter dino. Gigantoraptor had a large brain for a dinosaur and sharp claws on its feet, making it a clever and dangerous predator. It walked on two powerful legs and used its arms and tail for balance.
