Tiny horned dinosaur. Bagaceratops was a small protoceratopsid dinosaur, which means it was much smaller than the famous Triceratops but still had a bony frill on its head.
Ancient Asian resident. This dinosaur lived around 72 to 71 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period in what is now Asia.
Desert fossil homes. Scientists found Bagaceratops fossils in the Barun Goyot Formation and Bayan Mandahu Formation, ancient rock layers in Mongolia and China that were once sandy deserts.
Mystery in the rocks. One fossil specimen might show that Bagaceratops also lived in another rock formation called the Djadochta Formation, but scientists aren't completely sure yet.
