Made from clay. Golems are created from mud or clay and brought to life through magic and special words. They are not born like people or animals, but shaped and awakened by a rabbi or magical person.

Protects the community. The most famous golem was created by Rabbi Judah Loew in Prague during the 1500s to protect Jewish people. It was incredibly strong and could do tasks that humans couldn't do alone.

Means many things. The golem is a flexible symbol that can represent hope, fear, strength, or even loneliness. Over hundreds of years, people have told golem stories in different ways to express their feelings.

Comes alive with magic. In the stories, golems wake up when special holy words or letters are written or spoken. These magical words gave the clay body life and purpose.

Hero or monster?. Golems can be good or bad in different stories. Sometimes they help people, and sometimes they become dangerous and need to be stopped.
