Scoops and lifts grain. A grain elevator uses a bucket elevator or pneumatic conveyor, which is like a giant vacuum system, to pick up grain from the ground and send it way up into the air.

Stores massive amounts. Once the grain reaches the top, it gets dumped into a tall silo or storage building where thousands of tons of wheat, corn, or other grains can be kept safe and dry.

Helps farmers after harvest. After farmers harvest their crops, they bring the grain to an elevator so it can be stored until it's ready to be sold or transported to bakeries and food companies.

Uses amazing technology. The bucket elevator works kind of like a conveyor belt with little buckets attached to it, scooping up grain continuously and moving it upward through the tower.

Found everywhere grains grow. Grain elevators are built in farming regions all around the world wherever people grow wheat, corn, barley, or oats.
