What websites are. A website is made up of web pages that all share the same domain name (like google.com) and live on computer servers connected to the internet. When you visit a website, you're actually asking a server to send those pages to your computer.
How you navigate. Websites use hyperlinks, which are clickable words or buttons that take you from one page to another. Most websites start with a home page that helps you find other pages you want to visit.
Many different purposes. Websites exist for almost any reason you can think of. Some share news, others teach you things, some let you buy stuff, many entertain you, and plenty help people connect with friends and family.
The most popular sites. Google, YouTube, and Facebook are the websites that the most people visit in the world. Google helps you search for information, YouTube has videos, and Facebook lets people share their lives with friends.
