Green Moray

Massive ocean snake. The green moray can grow up to 8.2 feet long, making it the biggest moray eel in the tropical Atlantic and one of the largest moray eels in the entire world.

Lives in the Atlantic. You can find green morays from Long Island, New York, all the way down to Brazil, plus around Bermuda and the Gulf of Mexico.

Deep-sea homes. These eels live in rocky crevices and holes on the ocean floor at depths down to about 130 feet below the surface.

Yellowish green color. Despite their name, green morays aren't actually green, they just look that way because they have a yellowish pigment on top of bluish skin, which blends together.

Constantly gaping mouth. Green morays often swim with their mouths wide open, which looks scary but is actually just how they breathe by pumping water through their gills.
