Royal home for centuries. Gyeongbokgung was built in 1395 as the very first palace for kings of the Joseon dynasty, one of Korea's greatest periods of history. Kings and their families lived there for hundreds of years.

Massive and magnificent. The palace is huge with many beautiful buildings, gates, and courtyards spread across a vast area. Each building had its own special purpose, from where the king worked to where the royal family relaxed.

Treasure of knowledge. Walking through Gyeongbokgung today lets you see how Korean royalty dressed, what they ate, and how they governed the kingdom. Exhibits show off crowns, clothes, and old documents from hundreds of years ago.

Gardens and nature. The palace grounds include beautiful gardens and ponds where the royal family could enjoy peaceful moments. The designers carefully placed every tree and stone to create harmony and balance.

Living history today. You can watch guards in traditional uniforms perform old ceremonies and guard changes, just like they did when real kings lived there. Thousands of visitors come each year to experience this connection to the past.
