Floats on air. A hovercraft works by blowing powerful jets of air downward underneath it, creating a cushion that lifts the whole vehicle off the ground. This means there's almost no friction, so it can zoom across water, mud, and ice without getting stuck.
Works everywhere. Because a hovercraft doesn't touch the ground or water, it can travel over places where regular boats and cars can't go, like shallow swamps, rocky shores, and frozen lakes. This makes them super useful for rescue missions and exploring tricky terrain.
Speed and agility. Hovercraft can move really fast because they're not slowed down by friction like wheels or hulls are. They can also turn and twist quickly because they ride on air instead of being stuck to the surface below.
Complex engineering. A hovercraft needs powerful engines to create and maintain the air cushion, plus special skirts around the bottom to keep the air from escaping. All these parts working together is what makes hovercrafts such amazing vehicles.
Inspired by nature. Engineers got the idea for hovercraft by watching how some animals move and how water behaves, then figured out how to use air pressure to lift and move heavy vehicles.
