Water in the air. Humidity is invisible water vapor floating around us all the time. It's the gaseous form of water, so it's not like puddles or rain, it's mixed right into the air we breathe.

Affects your comfort. When humidity is high, the air feels sticky and hot because there's lots of water vapor. When it's low, the air feels dry and your skin might get itchy.

Predicts the weather. Humidity tells us if rain, dew, or fog might appear soon. If the air is very humid, it means water droplets are more likely to form and fall as precipitation.

Creates fog and dew. When humid air cools down, the water vapor can condense into tiny droplets. That's how fog appears in the morning or dew forms on grass.

Measured as percentage. Scientists measure humidity as a percentage that shows how much water vapor is in the air compared to the maximum amount it could hold at that temperature.
