Massive reef giant. The humphead wrasse is the largest species of wrasse in the world. It can grow to huge sizes and is a real superstar of the coral reef.

Famous forehead bump. This fish has a distinctive large bump on its head that looks a bit like a hump, which is where it gets its name. The bump becomes even bigger as the fish grows older.

Home in the Indo-Pacific. Humphead wrasses live mainly on coral reefs throughout the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea all the way to Australia and beyond.

Super clever fish. These wrasses are known for being one of the smartest fish species in the ocean. They can recognize individual humans and even learn to eat from a person's hand.

Many names, one fish. This fish goes by several names including Napoleon wrasse, Māori wrasse, and Napoleonfish. Different cultures around the world gave it different names over time.
