Incredible singers. Indris communicate with their families and other groups by singing, roaring, and making other loud vocalizations that echo through the forests of Madagascar.

Striking appearance. With its black and white coat and upright posture when climbing trees, the indri looks quite different from other lemurs and is easy to spot in the canopy.

Family focused. Indris are monogamous, meaning pairs stay together, and they live in small family groups that travel and feed together through the treetops.

Leaf lovers. These lemurs are herbivores that mainly eat leaves, but they also munch on seeds, fruits, and flowers to get all the nutrition they need.

Seriously big. At about 64 to 72 centimeters long and weighing 6 to 9.5 kilograms, indris are among the largest living lemurs in the world.
