Factories everywhere. Before the Industrial Revolution, most things were made by hand in people's homes or small shops. Starting in Great Britain, new machines and factories let workers make thousands of products much faster and cheaper than ever before.

Amazing new machines. Inventors created steam engines, spinning machines, and looms that could do work a hundred people used to do. These machines made manufacturing so efficient that factories popped up across Britain, Europe, and America.

The world changed fast. Between 1760 and 1840, the Industrial Revolution spread from Britain to continental Europe and the United States, completely reshaping how people lived and worked. Historians say this is the most important event in human history, as important as when humans first learned to farm.

Cities grew huge. Factories needed lots of workers, so people moved from farms to cities to find jobs. This created massive cities packed with factories, workers, and new kinds of problems like pollution and crowding.

Farms became modern. The Industrial Revolution happened after the Agricultural Revolution, which had already made farming more efficient with better tools and techniques. Now machines were doing for manufacturing what better farming had done for agriculture.
