Cool Facts
Bean-shaped sweets. Jelly beans are small candies shaped like little beans, with a hard sugar shell on the outside and a soft, thick gel center inside.
Rainbow of flavors. They come in tons of different colors, and each color usually has its own flavor, from fruity to sweet to sour.
Mostly sugar. The main ingredient in jelly beans is sugar, which makes that sweet taste and helps create both the crunchy shell and the gel filling.
Layered in layers. Jelly beans are made by building up layers of sugar coating around a gel center, kind of like how a pearl forms in an oyster.
Chewy challenge. When you bite into a jelly bean, the hard shell cracks and then you get that chewy, gummy gel in the middle.
