Invented the printing press. Around 1440, Gutenberg created a machine that used movable metal letters to print pages super fast. Before his invention, people had to copy books by hand, which took months and months.

Movable type idea. Instead of carving an entire page into one wooden block, Gutenberg's clever system let you arrange small metal letters like building blocks, reuse them for new pages, and print hundreds of copies quickly.

First big printed book. In 1455, Gutenberg printed the Gutenberg Bible, one of the first major books made with his printing press. It was beautiful and proved that machines could print just as nicely as people could handwrite.

Spread information everywhere. Because books became cheap and fast to make, suddenly regular people could read and learn. This sparked huge changes in Europe, helping the Renaissance and Reformation movements grow stronger.

East Asia had it first. Movable type was already invented in China and Korea centuries before Gutenberg, but his press made printing so much faster and easier that it transformed Europe in ways that changed world history.
