Impossibly giant serpent. Jörmungandr is so enormous that it encircles the entire world called Midgard, and its body is so long that it can bite its own tail. This makes it one of the largest creatures ever imagined in any mythology.

Holds the world together. By wrapping around Midgard with its tail in its mouth, Jörmungandr acts like a cosmic belt that circles the whole Earth. The ancient Norse people imagined the world sea as this creature's home.

Sign of the end times. According to Norse mythology, when Jörmungandr releases its tail from its mouth, it marks the beginning of Ragnarök, which is the Norse version of the end of the world. This moment signals that catastrophic changes are about to happen.

Ouroboros shape. Jörmungandr biting its own tail is called an ouroboros, a symbol found in many ancient cultures that represents cycles, infinity, or something eating itself. This ancient image appears in art and mythology across different civilizations.
