Cool Facts
Pressed from fruit. Juice comes from squeezing or pressing fruits and vegetables to get out all their natural liquid inside. You can make it from oranges, apples, grapes, carrots, and lots of other produce.
Keeps it fresh. Before people invented pasteurization (a special heat process), juice would go bad quickly. Once scientists figured out how to heat and cool juice safely, people could drink it weeks or months later without it spoiling.
Popular worldwide. New Zealand and Colombia drink more juice than almost any other countries in the world. The richer a country gets, the more juice its people tend to drink.
Many uses. You can drink juice all by itself, or mix it into smoothies and other drinks. Cooks also use juice as a flavoring ingredient in sauces and recipes.
Beyond fruits. Juice isn't just from fruits and veggies. You can also make special juices from seafood like clams, or even from meat.
