Cool Facts
Tiny but fierce. Juravenator was only about 75 centimeters long, roughly the size of a modern house cat, but it was a meat-eating predator with sharp claws and teeth designed for hunting.
152 million years old. This dinosaur lived during the Late Jurassic period, when giant sauropods roamed the Earth and pterosaurs ruled the skies.
Found in Germany. We know about Juravenator from a single fossil skeleton discovered in the Franconian Jura region of Germany, which was a warm, tropical place back then.
Just a baby dinosaur. The skeleton we have is from a young Juravenator, so the fully grown adults might have been a bit larger than this tiny fossil suggests.
Rare treasure. Only one Juravenator specimen has ever been found, making it a precious piece of dinosaur history that scientists have studied carefully.
