Second tallest peak. K2 rises 8,611 meters (28,251 feet) into the sky, making it the second-highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest.

Called the Savage Mountain. K2 has earned a fearsome reputation because climbing it is incredibly dangerous, even more technically difficult than Everest.

Sits on two nations. K2 straddles the border between Pakistan and China in the Karakoram mountain range, one of the most spectacular regions on Earth.

In the Karakoram range. The mountain is part of the Karakoram, a massive chain of peaks in Asia that includes many of the world's highest mountains.
