Ancient rock art. Kakadu is home to thousands of Aboriginal rock paintings that are thousands of years old, showing animals, people, and stories that tell us about life long ago.

Huge protected area. This national park covers a massive stretch of the Northern Territory about 171 kilometers from Darwin, making it one of Australia's most important nature reserves.

Amazing animal home. Kakadu is filled with incredible wildlife like saltwater crocodiles, water buffalo, snakes, and colorful birds that live among the wetlands and forests.

Wetlands and waterfalls. The park has beautiful seasonal wetlands, rivers, and waterfalls that change dramatically between the dry and wet seasons, creating different landscapes throughout the year.

World Heritage Site. Kakadu was recognized by the United Nations as a World Heritage Site because it's so special for both its nature and the Aboriginal culture found there.
