Many leaf shapes. Kale leaves can be super bumpy and wrinkly, tightly curled like tiny waves, or completely flat and smooth. Each type looks totally different, even though they're all kale.

Purple to green. While most kale is bright green, some varieties are deep purple or even blue-green. The color depends on which type of kale you're growing.

Related to cabbage. Kale is part of the same plant family as cabbage, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts. They're all cousins in the cabbage group.

Pretty in gardens. Kale isn't just good to eat, farmers and gardeners grow it to look beautiful too. Its fancy leaves make it a colorful decoration in vegetable gardens.
