Third tallest peak. Kangchenjunga stands 8,586 meters (28,169 feet) high, making it the third-highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest and K2.

Part of the Himalayas. This giant mountain is located in the Kangchenjunga Himal section of the Himalayan range, one of the most famous mountain systems on Earth.

Sits on a border. Kangchenjunga straddles the border between Nepal and India, with some peaks in Nepal and others right on the dividing line between the two countries.

Surrounded by rivers. The mountain is bounded by rivers on all sides: the Tamur River on the west, the Lhonak River to the north, and the Teesta River on the east.

Named for five treasures. Kangchenjunga means 'the five treasures of the snows' in Tibetan, referring to the mountain's five main peaks.
