Red Dwarf Star. Unlike our Sun, Kepler-186f orbits a red dwarf, a smaller and cooler type of star that burns its fuel very slowly and could shine for trillions of years.

Super Far Away. This exoplanet lives 580 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus, which means light from its star takes 580 years to reach us.

Found by Kepler. NASA's Kepler space telescope discovered Kepler-186f along with four other planets orbiting the same star, making this system home to at least five worlds.

Habitable Zone Champion. Kepler-186f is the outermost planet in its system and sits right in the habitable zone, where conditions might allow life as we know it to develop.
