The Winter Triangle

Three Super Bright Stars. The Winter Triangle is made from Sirius, Betelgeuse, and Procyon. These three stars are so bright that they're some of the easiest to see in the entire night sky, even from cities with light pollution.

A Winter Pattern. You can only see the Winter Triangle clearly during winter months in the Northern Hemisphere. As Earth moves around the sun, these stars appear in different parts of the sky depending on the season.

Shaped Like a Triangle. The three stars form an imaginary isosceles triangle in space when you connect them with lines. This triangle shape helped ancient skywatchers organize and remember where to find these bright stars.

Part of Three Constellations. Each star belongs to a different constellation. Sirius is in Canis Major (the Big Dog), Betelgeuse is in Orion (the Hunter), and Procyon is in Canis Minor (the Little Dog).
