Two connected fish. Pisces shows two fish joined together by a single cord that meets at a point. Ancient Greeks and Romans saw this pattern in the stars and gave the constellation its name, which simply means 'fishes' in Latin.

Right on the equator. The constellation sits exactly where the celestial equator, an imaginary line in the sky, meets the ecliptic, the path the Sun travels. This special spot marks the spring equinox, when day and night are equal length.

Huge but faint. Pisces is one of the largest constellations in the sky, but it's quite hard to spot because its stars aren't very bright. You need dark skies away from city lights to see it clearly.

Caught between neighbors. Pisces sits between two other zodiac constellations: Aquarius to the southwest and the smaller Aries to the east. Together they make up an interesting corner of the night sky.
