Cool Facts
Flat pasta sheets. Lasagna uses wide, flat sheets of pasta instead of the curly or tube shapes you might see in other pasta dishes. These flat sheets are perfect for stacking and layering.
Layers of deliciousness. The magic of lasagna is in the layers. Cooks stack pasta sheets and alternate them with fillings like ragù (a rich meat sauce), béchamel (a creamy white sauce), cheese, and vegetables. Each layer adds its own flavor!
Made in Italy. Lasagna comes from Italian cuisine and has been made there for hundreds of years. Different regions of Italy have their own special versions, so there's no one single "right" way to make it.
Baked until perfect. After you layer everything together and top it with grated cheese, the whole dish goes into the oven to bake. The heat melts the cheese and brings all those flavors together into one amazing meal.
Served in broth. While most people know lasagna as a baked dish, in Italy it's sometimes also served in a warm broth, which gives it a totally different but equally tasty way to enjoy it.
