Cool Facts
Four buildings, same name. Madison Square Garden has moved three times since it started in 1879. The first two were in Madison Square on East 26th Street, then it moved way uptown to 50th Street, and now it sits right on top of Pennsylvania Station between 31st and 33rd streets.
Between two avenues. The current Madison Square Garden stretches two whole blocks between Seventh and Eighth avenues in Midtown Manhattan, making it a huge landmark right in the middle of the city.
Home to superstars. Thousands of concerts, sports games, and incredible shows happen here every year, making it one of the most famous venues in the world.
Built on top of a station. The building you see today is actually built right above Pennsylvania Station, which is a busy train hub where thousands of people travel every day.
