Incredible Punch Power. Mantis shrimp can swing their claws so fast they create shock waves that stun or kill their prey. The force is like being hit by a bullet, even though the shrimp is only about 10 inches long.

Rainbow Vision Champion. While humans see three colors, mantis shrimp can see at least 12 different colors, including ultraviolet and polarized light that we cannot even perceive. Their eyes work independently to spot prey from many angles.

Ancient Ocean Dwellers. Mantis shrimp have been around for 400 million years, living through the time of dinosaurs. Today, more than 520 different species exist in tropical and subtropical oceans around the world.
