Cool Facts
Walked on four legs. Melanorosaurus was a huge dinosaur that stomped around on all fours, kind of like a giant lizard. Its thick, sturdy limbs were built to support its enormous body weight.
From South Africa. This dinosaur lived in South Africa during the Late Triassic period, which was way before the famous T-rex and Triceratops roamed the Earth. We know about it from fossils found there.
Ate plants and meat. Unlike many other dinosaurs that ate only one type of food, Melanorosaurus was an omnivore. It could munch on plants and gobble up smaller animals too.
Super strong bones. Melanorosaurus had massive, heavy limb bones that were similar to the bones of true sauropods, the enormous long-necked dinosaurs. This made it one of the biggest and strongest dinosaurs of its time.
