Started in Canada. The show began in 1962 on Canadian television before Fred Rogers brought it back to the United States in 1966. It became a national hit when it premiered on American TV in 1968.

All about feelings. Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was created to help children talk about emotions, fears, and big life questions in a gentle, honest way. Fred Rogers believed kids deserved respectful conversations about their feelings.

30 years on air. The show ran until 2001, giving millions of children a trusted friend who visited them in their homes for more than three decades. Many people who grew up watching it became kind, thoughtful adults.

A special neighborhood. Each episode showed Fred Rogers changing into his cardigan sweater and sneakers, then visiting a make-believe neighborhood with puppets and neighbors who had their own stories and struggles.
