The main hub. A motherboard is like the nervous system of a computer, connecting the CPU (the brain), memory, and all other parts so they can work together and share information.

Lots of connectors. Motherboards have special slots and ports where you can plug in things like RAM sticks, graphics cards, and USB devices so your computer can do more cool stuff.

Highways for data. Tiny metal paths called circuits run across the motherboard, and electricity travels through them carrying information between all the computer's parts at super fast speeds.

Different designs. Motherboards come in different sizes and types depending on what kind of computer needs them, from tiny ones in laptops to bigger ones in gaming PCs or servers.

Built with layers. Modern motherboards are printed circuit boards made of multiple thin layers with copper paths and electronic parts stuck on top, all working together in just a few millimeters of thickness.
