Mudskippers

Walking on fins. Mudskippers use their front fins like legs to crawl and hop across muddy ground, making them one of the few fish that can really move around on land instead of just flopping around helplessly.

Air breathing superstars. These fish can survive out of water for hours by absorbing oxygen through their skin and the lining inside their mouth, so they don't need to be underwater all the time like regular fish do.

Eyes on top. Mudskippers have eyes positioned on the very top of their heads, which lets them peek above the water or mud to see what's going on around them while staying mostly hidden.

Mangrove mudflats home. They live in coastal areas with mangrove forests and mudflats in Africa, Asia, and Australia, where they hunt for tiny creatures in the wet mud during low tide.

Teamwork hunters. Mudskippers often hunt together in groups, using coordinated movements to corner small animals in the mud and catch them as a team.
