Rainbow colored feathers. Rainbow lorikeets are covered in bright red, blue, green, and yellow feathers that make them look like flying rainbows. These colors help them blend in with flowers and fruit in the trees where they live.

Eastern Australia home. You'll find rainbow lorikeets all along Australia's eastern coast, from the tropical rainforests of northern Queensland down to South Australia. They love living in rainforests, coastal bushes, and woodland areas.

Flower and fruit lovers. Rainbow lorikeets have a special brush-like tongue that's perfect for drinking nectar from flowers and eating soft fruits. They're sometimes called lories and are part of a big family of colorful parrots.

Many separate species. Scientists used to think all rainbow lorikeets were one species with six different types, but now they know six of those types are actually completely separate species. This shows how much scientists still learn about wildlife.
