The Neolithic Revolution

Farming began. Instead of following animals and gathering wild plants, people learned to plant seeds, grow crops, and stay in settlements. This happened thousands of years ago in places like the Middle East, China, and other parts of Africa and Asia.

Villages formed. When people farmed, they didn't need to move around anymore. They built permanent homes and communities where families lived together, which eventually grew into the first towns and cities.

Experimentation helped. Living in one place gave people time to watch plants grow and figure out which ones were best to eat. They learned how to save seeds and plant them again, which created the first crops.

Population exploded. Farming produced more food than hunting and gathering ever could. With more reliable food sources, families could have more children, and human populations grew much larger than before.

Civilization started here. The Neolithic Revolution was the foundation for everything that came next, like writing, governments, and complex societies. Without farming, modern civilization would never have existed.
