Millions of stars packed together. Omega Centauri contains roughly 10 million stars all crammed into a space about 150 light-years across. That's like fitting an entire city of stars into one massive glowing sphere.

It's really far away. Even though it looks like a bright fuzzy spot in the night sky, Omega Centauri is 17,090 light-years away from Earth. Light from those stars has been traveling for over 17,000 years just to reach us.

The heavyweight champion. Omega Centauri is the heaviest globular cluster in the Milky Way, with a mass equal to 4 million suns. All those millions of stars packed so tightly together create an incredibly strong pull of gravity.

Discovered by a famous astronomer. A scientist named Edmond Halley first spotted that Omega Centauri was something special back in 1677, noticing it wasn't a single star like others in the sky. He realized it had to be a whole cluster of stars grouped together.
