Øresund Bridge

Connects two countries. The Øresund Bridge links Denmark and Sweden across the Øresund strait, making it easy for people and goods to travel between the two nations without taking a ferry.

Cars and trains together. Unlike most bridges, this one is special because both a motorway for cars and a railway for trains run on the same structure at the same time.

Incredibly long. The bridge stretches nearly 8 kilometres from Sweden to a man made island called Peberholm, making it the second longest bridge in all of Europe.

Island in the middle. The bridge doesn't go all the way to Denmark, instead it reaches an artificial island, and then a 4 kilometre tunnel continues underground to the Danish side.

Cable stayed design. The bridge uses special cables attached to tall towers to hold up the roadway and railway, which is a clever engineering method that lets it span such a huge distance.
