Norway's beating heart. Oslo is the capital and largest city of Norway, a country in northern Europe. It's where the government meets and where most of Norway's biggest decisions happen.
A crowded place. About 724,000 people live right in Oslo, making it super packed with bustling streets, shops, and restaurants. The whole area around it has even more people, with over 1.5 million in the greater region.
City meets nature. What makes Oslo special is that it's surrounded by forests and water, including the stunning Oslofjord. You can be in the busy city center and then walk or take a short trip to peaceful nature.
A modern Nordic city. Oslo is both a county and a municipality, which means it works a bit differently from other cities. It blends modern life with a long, rich Viking and medieval history that you can still see today.
