Sixteen shimmering lakes. Plitvice Lakes has 16 beautiful lakes linked together like a giant water staircase, with each one flowing into the next through amazing waterfalls and streams.

Waterfalls everywhere. The park is famous for its spectacular connected waterfalls that tumble between the lakes, creating one of Europe's most stunning water displays.

Tufa travertine rock. The lakes and waterfalls are made from a special type of rock called tufa, which forms when mineral-rich water creates natural dams and terraces over thousands of years.

Mysterious caves hidden. The park has caves tucked beneath the landscape where you can explore underground streams and cool rocky chambers.

World Heritage site. In 1979, UNESCO recognized Plitvice Lakes as a World Heritage site because it's one of the most beautiful and important natural parks in the world.
