Oyster Toadfish

Colorful but crabby. Oyster toadfish are yellowish with brown striped patterns, and they have lots of funny nicknames like ugly toad and oyster cracker because of their bumpy, toad-like faces.

Survive anywhere. These fish are superstars at living in messy, polluted water where other fish would give up, and they need very little food to stay healthy.

Small but mighty. Most oyster toadfish grow to about 15 inches long, though the biggest ones can reach nearly 20 inches, which is roughly the length of a ruler and a half.

Coastal homebodies. You'll find them hanging out near the shore from Maine all the way down to Florida, hiding in shallow, weedy areas where they can blend in.
