Palm branches symbolize. When Jesus rode into Jerusalem, the people waved palm branches to honor and celebrate him. This is why the holiday is called Palm Sunday.

It moves every year. Palm Sunday falls on a different date each year because it comes the Sunday before Easter, and Easter's date changes based on the moon's cycles.
