First human woman. In ancient Greek stories, Pandora was the very first woman ever created. The god Hephaestus made her out of clay, and all the other gods gave her special gifts to make her amazing.

Gifts from gods. Each god gave Pandora something unique. Athena gave her wisdom, Aphrodite gave her beauty, Hermes gave her charm, and other gods added different talents. She was like a present packed with superpowers from everyone.

The famous box. Pandora was given a sealed box with strict instructions never to open it. When she couldn't resist her curiosity and opened it, all sorts of troubles escaped into the world, though hope stayed inside at the bottom.

Another name. Pandora also had another name, Anesidora, which is written on an ancient Greek cup now in the British Museum. This name tells us she was important enough to have two identities in these old stories.
