Created in 1901. The first recorded peanut butter and jelly sandwich appeared in 1901 as a fancy tea sandwich, but it didn't become super popular until peanut butter was mass-produced and affordable.

Depression-era fuel. During the Great Depression in the 1930s, when families struggled for money, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches became a lifesaver because they were cheap, filling, and provided good nutrition.
