A 9th century fortress. Prague Castle was built way back in the 800s, making it one of the oldest and largest castle complexes in the world. It sits on a hill overlooking the entire city of Prague.
Seat of power. For over a thousand years, kings, emperors, and now presidents have ruled from this castle. It's been the official home of whoever held power in Bohemia and the Czech lands.
Hidden treasure room. The Bohemian Crown Jewels, including precious crowns and jewels used by ancient rulers, are locked inside a secret room within the castle walls where they've been protected for centuries.
President's workplace. Today, the President of the Czech Republic works and lives at Prague Castle, just like how a U.S. president works at the White House.
Enormous complex. Prague Castle isn't just one building, it's a whole neighborhood of buildings, churches, courtyards, and gardens spread across a huge area on the castle grounds.
